A new urban village for Rotterdam.
Provast has won the tender for Rijnhaven Blok 1 with Flow Town, designed by ZUS [Zones Urbaines Sensibles], MVSA Architects, Loer Architecten, and HWKN Architecture.
Located directly next to metro station Rijnhaven, the prominent site will become a circa 120,000 m² mixed-use development with more than 1,000 homes, bringing the social quality of a village into high-rise living.
Instead of anonymous towers or a single massive block, the plan creates recognizable buildings, neighborhoods, streets and places to meet. Housing is combined with care, childcare, sport, culture, hospitality, retail and workspaces, creating a complete urban neighborhood at the heart of Rotterdam.
Each building has its own character, rooted in the city’s identity and harbour heritage, while a network of public routes and meeting places connects Flow Town to its surroundings.
