The Implosion of the Public Domain
Who owns the street? What makes it public or private? What is the influence of the architecture of our streets on its use. How have streets developped over the last 3000 years? And what does this mean for the future of the street?
As part of the exhibition "Who owns the street?" at the Van Abbemuseum (Eindhoven, NL) ZUS researched 101 streets, from the Roman paved routes, through New Babylon to the contemporary shopping mall. The evolution of existing and utopian streets shows the fragmentation and ongoing transformation of the street concept.
